ClassGraphic Learn the fundamentals of safe boating in this core America's Boating Club course. Successful completion qualifies you for motorized boat operator certification in Michigan required for those born after June 30, 1996. Boater education is also required for personal watercraft (PWC) operators born after December 31, 1978. Course topics include: boat components and safe operation, the rules and regulations as they apply to boating in the USA and state of Michigan, boat navigation, and communication. Discussion includes how to deal with a boat in adverse conditions and how to operate boating equipment such as a boat trailer and PWC, and how to tie knots that are essential to safe boating. Text included. A Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants shortly before the class begins. This course is underwritten in part by America's Boating Club and is offered in partnership with America's Boating Club Grand Traverse Bay.
