The Eldercare Certificate is for individuals interested in being caregivers for the elderly or those looking to work in senior care situations including Home Health Care, Assisted Living, or Adult Foster Care Homes. In addition to providing skills to help the elderly, this certificate can help caregivers of those who are disabled, chronically ill, or cognitively impaired. Students will learn about the medical and social needs of elders, as well as nutritional needs, personal care, cleaning, and infection control. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to begin working with home health care clients in their homes or assist in other caregiver settings. These courses are also helpful for family caregivers.

Become a Certified Nurse Aide in just 80 hours of in-person training. A certified nurse aide, or CNA, helps patients or residents with healthcare needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Tasks include, but are not limited to, personal care, monitoring vital signs, setting up meal trays, feeding, making beds, turning bed-ridden residents, and bringing residents to therapy. Since CNAs have daily contact with patients, they are the nurses' eyes and ears, gathering vital information about the patients’ conditions. A CNA’s workload can become intense and fast-paced, but the human contact and ability to help those in medical need can be very rewarding. A desire to help people and compassion for residents is essential. NMC works with area health care providers as partners for this credentialed CNA program.

The next round of classes will start late Spring 2024.
