BIOGRAPHY
I received a BA in cultural anthropology from Grand Valley State University and a MA and PhD in cultural anthropology from Washington State University. After graduating from WSU, I continued to teach anthropology there as an adjunct instructor and also taught at the University of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College. I was responsible for the creation and implementation of numerous courses ranging in topics from Food and Culture, Art and Society, Comparative Religions, to Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Death and Dying.
I traveled abroad for the first time when I was 13 to what was then the USSR. Since then I have had the opportunity to live in multiple locations outside the U.S., including Cape Town, with a group of hunter/gatherers in a rainforest in Cameroon, and in a tent in rural Zambia for a year. In total, I’ve been to over 65 countries, many on solo trips and now with my eleven-year-old daughter, Sioma.
At Extended Educational Services, I manage the global portfolio with its array of topics from history, politics, religion, culture, and diversity; and the culinary portfolio with all of its delicious offerings.
