ACE Certification Exam

The ACE Personal Trainer Certification exam is a 3-hour, 150-multiple-choice-question exam. It is designed to ensure that you have the critical knowledge and skill set to design and implement safe and effective exercise programs individually tailored to your clients' overall health and fitness goals.

The exam also tests your ability to determine the most appropriate course of action in a variety of real-life scenarios while maintaining a professional demeanor as outlined in the ACE Code of Ethics as well as working within your scope of practice.

Questions on the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam are categorized into the following topics areas, with foundational science knowledge key to the first three topics:

  • Client Interview and Assessment
  • Program Design and Implementation
  • Program Progression, Modification, and Maintenance
  • Professional Role and Responsibilities
  • Foundational Knowledge (Applied Sciences)

You must register for the exam at least 30 days ahead. Online is the easiest way (www.acefitness.org/students/) but the Extended Education office also has a test application form available. Call 231-995-1700 to have one sent to you.

NOTE: Please make sure BEFORE you register for the exam that the minimum number of students have enrolled for the class.
