This Jam Band-style ensemble draws on influences of Jazz, Rock, and Blues genres where students learn songs from simple lead-sheets or by ear, and make their own original arrangements. Under the guidance of Archipelago teaching artists, students are responsible for rehearsing the pieces, learning their construction, and deciding the song-list order for the performance. Whether you are a brass, woodwind, string or percussion player from a school music program or you are a rocker that plays guitar or bass, you are welcome to participate in this ensemble. Reading notation is not required, but having familiarity with basic scales and chords is helpful. Want to hear what it sounds like? Check out this performance of
New Wade Blues from a previous year’s ensemble. All musicians and all instruments are welcome! Offered in Partnership with the Archipelago Project.
