CourseGraphic Continue the journey through America's moral landscape in this second, thought-provoking course. Students will focus on another set of ethical choices that shaped the nation such as: should Richard Wright have stolen money to escape the Jim Crow South? Should Governor Frank Murphy have suppressed the 1937 GM sit-down strike? Should interned Japanese-American men have volunteered for the U.S. Army during WWII? Using historical chapters from books co-authored by the instructor, a retired University of Michigan professor, you'll engage in respectful, reasoned discussion about these pivotal moments. The goal remains to encourage thoughtful reflection and the development of ethical judgment while further deepening your knowledge of American history.
