ClassGraphic New! Michigan's winter landscape is beautiful and still. Take advantage of the more open horizon once the leaves drop, and learn to identify native trees by their bark, buds, and branching patterns. Using a variety of real specimens collected from the Grass River Natural Area, along with high-quality photographs and guides, you'll start to recognize woody plants, including broadleaf trees, shrubs, and evergreens, even in the coldest months. Class topics will include bark identification, bud and twig analysis, and branching patterns. You'll leave with the knowledge and confidence to identify a wide range of Michigan trees, no matter the season.
