Take your interest and engagement to a new level by earning a continuing education Northern Naturalist Certificate
. You can increase your knowledge for personal enjoyment, volunteer work, or employment, all while exploring the natural environment through classroom and hands-on field experience.
Requirements for the certificate:
- A minimum of 8 Naturalist courses
- A minimum of 65 classroom/field-trip hours
- Of the 65 required hours, at least 10 hours should involve field experience
(classes that include field trips, hikes, etc.)
- At least one class from each of the five general categories
- Environmental Studies Course (required) — 8 hours
- Water (shoreline or water ecology) — 10 hours
- Plants, wildflowers, trees — 8 hours
- Animals, birds, or bugs — 8 hours
- Geology — 8 hours
