Cantus (kahn-toos) is Latin for 'choir' and is designed primarily for 6th-9th graders — audition required. Cantus is Northwestern Michigan College Children's Choir (NMCCC)'s largest and most advanced performing ensemble. Singers rehearse Tuesday evenings as well as some Saturday mornings. Cantus performs in the NMCCC Holiday, Winter and Spring Concerts, at community events throughout the season and, as opportunities present, with guest artists and organizations such as the Traverse City Philharmonic. Cantus tours each spring, offering unique performance and cultural opportunities.
