ClassGraphic New! This session investigates American foreign policy during the Trump and Biden presidencies, spanning from 2017 to the present. Students will analyze key themes such as nationalism, trade wars, and the challenges to multilateralism under Trump, including the withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and the Iran nuclear deal. The course will then shift to Biden’s approach, emphasizing restoration of alliances, responses to global crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, and the re-engagement with international institutions. We will critically examine how domestic politics, global shifts, and emerging threats—such as cybersecurity and climate change—have influenced U.S. foreign relations. This exploration will deepen understanding of the evolving landscape of American diplomacy and its implications for global stability.
